Round 1 Wrap-up, Round 2 Preview

This past weekend saw all four first round series of the Phil Herrit Cup Playoffs come to a close. 

 

On Friday, a Nathan Mills shutout saw the Macs defeat Weeks 4-0, and winning the series 3-0.

 

Saturday, Brandon Lavoie of the Steele Subarus earned his second shutout of the series, as Steele eliminated the Mustangs with a 2-0 win, taking the series 3-0.

 

On Sunday, The Valley Wildcats completed the sweep of the Sydney Rush, with a 5-3 victory in Membertou. Aiden Bent and Will McKinnon Each had 3 points for the Wildcats in the game.

 

Also on Sunday, Cape Breton West continued the pattern of away team victories, as they eliminated Cole Harbour 7-3 in Cole Harbour. Jack Hayne had 5 points for the Islanders. The visiting team won every game in this series.

 

Round 2 preview:

Halifax Macs vs Cape Breton West Islanders

Kicking off Saturday at the Forum, the 1st seed Macs host the 6th seed Islanders. The Mac won the Season Series 6-0, however, the teams have not played each other since December 9th. 

 

 

Dartmouth Steele Subaru vs Bage Valley Wildcats

Also on Saturday, across the Harbour, 2nd seed Steele Subaru hosts the 3rd seed Wildcats in the other 2nd round series. The Regular Season Series was close, with Steele taking it 3-2, as well as earning victories over the Wildcats at the Monctonian and the IceJam.
